How GPS works, is how accurate location and accurate time information is available

In ancient times, when someone had to find a way or go from one place to another, they used different methods. In those days people used compasses, stick charts, and marks on the walls.

When passing through the way, he used to leave his mark and go ahead, so that he would not forget the way back. As technology developed, so did many new inventions. Today we tell you the complete details about GPS i.e. Global Positioning System.

What is GPS?

GPS is also known as Global Positioning System. GPS helps you to reach from one place to another. We use GPS to find the location. GPS is made up of three components, which include GPS Ground Control Station, GPS Satellite, and GPS Receiver.

GPS is composed of at least 24 satellites, GPS works continuously 24 hours a day in all types of weather. GPS technology was first used by the US military in the 1960s.

History of GPS

GPS (Global Positioning System) was started in 1973 by the U.S. Department of Defense. The first satellite was launched in the year 1978. The use of GPS for ordinary citizens was started in 1983.

It was mainly used by the U.S. military to track accurate location information of enemy ships, aircraft, and other military equipment. At that time there were some restrictions in it, which were removed in the year 2000. Since then till today everyone uses GPS. Under the GPS project, the United States has launched 72 satellites since 1978.

How GPS works

The GPS system works with the help of 24 satellites. All these satellites are present in space at a distance of 12,000 miles from the surface of the Earth. All these satellites make one round of the earth in 12 hours, their speed is very fast. The GPS system operates on three standard segment systems, namely the space segment, the control segment, and the user segment.

Whenever we search for a location from our phone, the satellite signal first comes to the earth, after that these signals are received by the receiver, and the receiver sees these signals according to the distance and time. After all these processes, the information that you have searched with the help of GPS comes to you.
