Apple Plans “Scary Fast” Event for October 30th: Potential for Updated iPads?

Apple has exciting news for its fans as it gears up for one more event before the year draws to a close. Set for October 30th, the day before Halloween, this event is humorously dubbed the “Scary Fast” event. While this name might hint at the arrival of M3-powered Macs to replace the current M2 lineup, it appears these new machines won’t make their debut until the following year. Similarly, Apple enthusiasts will have to wait until the first quarter of 2024 for the release of three updated iPad models.

Despite a recent report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicating that the upgraded iPads won’t surface until next March, some speculate that Apple might surprise us with iPad announcements during the “Scary Fast” event. If this were to happen, we could anticipate a refreshed 11th-generation basic iPad, an M2-powered iPad Air, and a new iPad mini boasting the 4nm A16 Bionic chip. Gurman also suggests that all three tablets will come with enhanced specifications.

However, it’s evident that the primary focus of this event will be on the Mac. The invitation features an animation that transforms the iconic Apple logo into the macOS Finder app’s “Face” icon. Just a week prior, an unexpected rumor hinted at the introduction of the trio of iPad models and a new Apple Pencil on October 17th, but only the third-generation Apple Pencil with USB-C charging support was unveiled on that occasion.

The proximity of this new event to the previous rumor raises hopes that the upcoming event might indeed include the eagerly awaited iPads. It’s important to note that the highly anticipated OLED-screened iPad Pro premium tablets are slated for a separate event in the coming year. Interestingly, there’s a peculiar rumor circulating that Apple may use LCD backlit screens for both the 11-inch and 13-inch models.

Adding an element of suspense to the event, Ming-Chi Kuo, a renowned and trusted Apple analyst from TF International, has modified his prediction regarding the MacBook Pro. In a tweet, Kuo speculates, “I believe the M3 series MacBook Pro will be the focus of the October 30th media event.”

The “Scary Fast” event is scheduled for a later start time compared to typical Apple events, commencing at 5 pm PDT, or 8 pm EDT. Apple enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating this event, hoping for exciting announcements and perhaps a few surprises from the tech giant.
