BSNL Challenges Big Telecoms with Affordable Long-Term Plans

BSNL continues to lead in offering budget-friendly recharge plans, catering to users with unlimited calling and data benefits. Amid rising tariffs from private telecom giants Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, BSNL stands out with its cost-effective offerings and commitment to improving network coverage. Here’s a detailed look at its standout plans.

Network Expansion and Upcoming 4G Launch

The state-owned telecom operator has installed 50,000 new 4G towers nationwide, with over 41,000 already operational. Another 50,000 towers are set to be installed in the coming months. Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has announced that BSNL aims to roll out its 4G services across the country by June next year.

BSNL’s Affordable Recharge Plans

1. Rs 999 Plan

  • Validity: 200 days
  • Benefits: Unlimited voice calling on any network across India.
  • Ideal For: Users focused on voice services, as this plan excludes data benefits.

2. Rs 997 Plan

  • Validity: 160 days
  • Benefits:
    • Unlimited voice calls on any network.
    • 100 SMS per day.
    • 2GB high-speed data daily.

TRAI Mandate on Network Transparency

To improve user access to service details, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has directed all telecom operators to publish geospatial coverage maps. These maps will display wireless service availability, including 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G, ensuring users can make informed choices based on network coverage.

With its affordable long-validity plans and ambitious network expansion, BSNL is proving to be a strong competitor, offering value-for-money options that rival private sector giants.
