As Ikk Kudi enjoys a resounding second wind on OTT, the love for Shehnaaz Gill is pouring in from her co-stars too. Adding to the film’s renewed buzz, Dhurandhar 2 actor Udaybir Sandhu, who shared screen space with Shehnaaz in the Punjabi romantic drama, has come forward with heartfelt praise, calling her success well deserved.
Speaking with warmth and pride about her role in the film, Udaybir said, “She has done a very good job. She had full faith in it. Of course, the director was very good, the producers were good. I have huge respect for her. Hum log ek hi area se aate hain—Amritsar se. Toh meri unke saath bonding bhi acchi thi. I think she deserves all the success.”
Originally released theatrically on October 31, 2025, Ikk Kudi marked a defining milestone for Shehnaaz, doubling up as her debut as a film producer. Translating to “One Girl,” the film follows Simmi, a free-spirited young woman grappling with inherited emotional scars and the idea of “perfect love,” just as she stands on the cusp of an arranged marriage. The narrative unfolds across dual timelines—Simmi’s present-day quest for clarity, and a tender 1950s love story of her grandmother Tejo, also portrayed by Shehnaaz. The double role never felt gimmicky; instead, it deepened the film’s emotional resonance, showcasing Shehnaaz’s growing maturity as a performer. It collected over ₹10 crore worldwide in its first 10 days and went on to cross ₹15 crore, with overseas Punjabi audiences powering much of its momentum. It eventually ranked as the sixth highest-grossing Punjabi film of 2025, cementing its place as both a commercial and cultural success.
With industry peers rooting for her and audiences embracing Ikk Kudi all over again, Shehnaaz looks ahead to her next project, Ishqnama.
