Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Addressed the Gathering via Video Conference Despite His Busy Schedule; Saurabh Dwivedi Sent a Special Video Message

MORAN: The 75th birth anniversary of late Dr. Pradip Hazarika was observed with great reverence through a memorial lecture held at Moran Women’s College. Dr. Hazarika was a distinguished professor, renowned Assamese writer, social activist, and eminent researcher on Srimanta Sankardeva. His remarkable contributions to education, literature, and society continue to inspire generations.

The memorial lecture was delivered by Dr. Sabyasachi Mahanta, whose keynote address emerged as the highlight of the programme. His deeply researched, scholarly, and thought-provoking speech captivated the audience from beginning to end. Blending historical insights, literature, philosophy, and personal reflections on Dr. Hazarika’s life and works, he presented a remarkable tribute that held the audience in pin-drop silence throughout. The address received widespread appreciation for its depth, clarity, and emotional appeal.

Honourable Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, despite his busy schedule, addressed the gathering via video conference and paid glowing tributes to Dr. Hazarika’s lifelong contributions to education, literature, and society.

India’s most-viewed journalist and Digital Editor of The Indian Express, Saurabh Dwivedi, sent a special video message conveying his best wishes and paying tribute to the remarkable legacy of Dr. Hazarika.

The ceremonial lamp was lit by Honourable Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament and former minister, Mr. Jogen Mohan, who also delivered an emotional speech recalling his long association with Dr. Hazarika and reflecting on his inspiring life, values, and invaluable guidance. His heartfelt address deeply moved the audience.

Honourable MLA Suruj Dehingia, a former student of Dr. Hazarika, addressed the gathering through a video message and fondly recalled his association with his revered teacher.

The programme was presided over by Dr. Anil Saikia, noted researcher of folk culture and former Principal of Moran College. In his presidential address, he highlighted Dr. Hazarika’s immense contributions to the Assamese language, literature, education, and cultural heritage.

Among the distinguished guests present were Dr. Kandarpa Deka, former Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University and Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences; Dr. Karabi Deka Hazarika, renowned Assamese writer; veteran journalist Subhit Kr. Chetri; and Professor Dr. Mamoni Gogoi Borgohain.

The programme was meticulously organised by the faculty and staff of Moran Women’s College, an institution of which late Dr. Pradip Hazarika was one of the founders and served as its Founder Secretary.

On behalf of the Dr. Pradip Hazarika Memorial Trust, Mrs. Basana Hazarika expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Principal Dr. Tarun Gogoi and the entire college fraternity for their wholehearted cooperation and excellent arrangements, which made the memorial lecture a memorable success.
