SCOTTSDALE — A deadly collision at Scottsdale Municipal Airport on Monday afternoon has left one person dead and several others injured after a private jet owned by Mötley Crüe vocalist Vince Neil veered off the runway. Neil was not on board during the incident.
Emergency crews responded around 2:45 p.m. to reports of the crash near Scottsdale and Thunderbird roads. According to the FAA, Neil’s Learjet 35A lost control after landing, crashing into a parked Gulfstream G-200 business jet. Airport officials believe the left main landing gear failed during landing, causing the jet to swerve off course.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while three others were hospitalized with injuries. A fifth person involved declined medical treatment. Federal investigators confirmed that four people were aboard the Learjet, while one person occupied the Gulfstream, who fortunately escaped unharmed.
Vince Neil’s attorney issued a statement expressing condolences:
“Mr. Neil’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today.”
The Learjet, registered to Chromed in Hollywood, Wyoming, with Neil listed as a principal agent, had been arriving from Austin, according to flight tracking data.
In response to the tragedy, Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky stated:
“On behalf of the city of Scottsdale, we offer our deepest condolences to those affected by this accident. We thank our first responders for their swift actions in handling the situation.”
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is currently investigating the cause of the crash. Scottsdale Airport remains closed until further notice, and the public is urged to avoid the area.
