Piyush Khanna, a visionary 21-year-old hailing from Modinagar in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, has defied conventional expectations by unveiling Anushka, a groundbreaking humanoid robot. Despite his young age, Piyush’s passion for innovation and relentless pursuit of excellence have catapulted him to the forefront of the robotics industry.
Anushka, the brainchild of Piyush, represents a remarkable fusion of cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence, computer vision, and natural language processing. This humanoid marvel is not only the first of its kind in North India but also distinguishes itself as the world’s only robot with a simulated heartbeat. Anushka boasts the title of India’s first complete humanoid robot with an autonomous moving mechanism, capable of supporting home automation and autonomous calling through IoT.
Designed with the ability to perform over 50 hand gestures, 30 eye gestures, along with jaw and neck movements, Anushka is more than just a technological wonder. Piyush’s creation transcends conventional robotics, serving as a receptionist, healthcare assistant, and companion, envisioning a future where humans and machines coexist harmoniously.
Piyush reflects on the challenging journey of creating Anushka, emphasizing the team’s dedication during long work sessions, sometimes lasting up to 30 hours. The project commenced in November 2022 when Dr. Shubham Shukla proposed the idea, and Piyush took the lead as Team Lead of Team31. Despite challenges, the team, guided by Dr. Shukla and Mr. Atul Kumar, completed the first prototype by April 2023, with Anushka’s formal development concluding in August 2023.
Anushka’s journey garnered attention, with notable figures like Shri Yogi Adityanath, Hon’ble CM of Uttar Pradesh, and Dr. Atul Kothari, Secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, visiting the robot. The final touch, a specially crafted mask by Mr. Nirosh Tiwari from Abhivyakti Creations, transformed Anushka into the humanoid she is today.
