Bengaluru Metro Halts Purple Line Train Services for One Month to Facilitate Upgrades

Bengaluru’s Namma Metro has made the decision to suspend several train services for a duration of one month. Starting from July 10th until August 9th, certain metro trains will be temporarily halted. This move comes as a result of ongoing signaling and infrastructure works taking place along the Krishnarajapuram and Baiyappanahalli metro lines. The Bengaluru Metro authorities have clarified that the suspension of these train services is necessary to facilitate the completion of these important upgrades.

The Purple Line of the Bengaluru Metro is set to witness the inauguration of a new two-kilometer metro route next month. Consequently, a total of 30,000 crore rupees has been allocated for the development of Namma Metro in Karnataka. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) initially intended to inaugurate the KR Puram-Bayyappanahalli line by mid-July. However, preparations are now underway for the unveiling of this highly anticipated metro route on the Purple Line. The KR Puram-Baiyappanahalli route, spanning approximately two kilometers, will connect the Whitefield area to Kengeri, Majestic, and various other parts of Bengaluru.

During this temporary suspension, certain services will be interrupted. The metro administration has announced that the Whitefield Metro line of Krishnarajapuram, which typically commences at 5 am daily, will instead begin operations at 7 am starting from Monday, July 10th. Similarly, services on the Baiyappanahalli to Swami Vivekananda route will also commence at 7 am, two hours later than the usual 5 am start time. To accommodate passengers who rely on the Baiyappanahalli Terminus between 5 am and 7 am, the Metro Railway Administration has advised them to board the Metro at Swami Vivekananda station, which is less than two kilometers away. All other metro services will continue to operate normally without any interruption during this period.

By temporarily halting these specific train services, the Bengaluru Metro aims to ensure the successful completion of signaling and infrastructure works on the Krishnarajapuram and Baiyappanahalli metro lines. The authorities are diligently working towards the opening of the new Purple Line route, which will enhance connectivity and benefit commuters across Bengaluru.
